Xbox 360 Games On Demand To Launch Soon

By Andrew Shin

Today the folks at Xbox released news that on August 11th, the new Games on Demand feature will be launched on Xbox LIVE. As a gamer, I've been looking forward to Games on Demand as it represents yet another level of flexibility and convenience in how I interact with my Xbox 360 and Xbox LIVE. With Games on Demand, gamers will have the ability to directly access and purchase Xbox 360 titles digitally. More importantly, all purchases will be saved in your history so that purchased games can be re-downloaded if necessary (ideal if you want to delete any digitally downloaded games from your harddrive to free up space and be able to access them again in the future).

Games on Demand will feature a total of 30 launch titles with new titles expected to be released every Tuesday. The following list of games are scheduled for the Canadian launch:

Assassin's Creed (Ubisoft)
LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga (LucasArts)
Rainbow Six Vegas (Ubisoft)
BioShock (2K Games)
Mass Effect (Microsoft Game Studios)
ridge racer 6 (Namco)
Burnout Paradise (EA)
Meet The Robinsons (Disney)
Rockstar Games Presents Table Tennis (Rockstar Games)
Call of Duty® 2 (Activision)
MX vs. ATV Untamed (THQ)
SONIC THE HEDGEHOG (SEGA)
Viva Piñata 2: Trouble in Paradise (Microsoft Game Studios)
Need for Speed Carbon (EA)
TEST DRIVE: UNLIMITED (Atari)
Fight Night Round 3 (EA)
Need for Speed: Most Wanted (EA)
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (2K Games/Bethesda Softworks)
Prey (2K Games)
Viva Piñata (Microsoft Game Studios)

Paying for Games on Demand titles can be done via existing Xbox LIVE payment methods - credit card or MS points. Today's announcement by Xbox also confirmed that PayPal support will be available on the Xbox.ca Marketplace (website).
