I Gotta Let You Know About GottaCon 2010

By Paul Hunter

Listen up west-coast gamers, if you're looking for a Canadian gaming convention that brings together many related hobbies such as video games, collectable miniatures, collectable trading cards, role playing games, board games all under one roof -- then check out GottaCon 2010.

February 5th, 6th and 7th of 2010 are the dates set aside for the second show and the convention will continue to take place annually on the first weekend in February for the years to come.

GottaCon 2010 will be held at the Pearkes Recreation Centre in Victoria, BC, and will span approximately 20,000 square feet of floor space. Interestingly enough, the convention will run 24hrs a day starting at 5pm on the Friday and will continue with non-stop gaming until 7pm Sunday evening.

Considering that BC is a hotbed for video games it's very exciting to see this convention embrace the form of entertainment. GottaCon is also planning on bringing in several special guests and will have demonstrations, contests, information sessions, workshops, a variety of vendors and sponsors throughout the weekend.

Among the sponsors of the show include Playstation.ca so I would expect to see some PS3, PS2 and PSP games at the show. Last year's GottaCon featured a Playstation Guitar Hero contest and a Dance Dance Revolution Contest. There was also plenty of PC and Xbox 360 gaming to be had with tournaments for Left 4 Dead, Halo 3, NHL 09, Gears of War 2, and more.
