Moisturizer and Mario

Last Father's Day, Shoppers Drug Mart had a cross-promotion with Future Shop where if you purchased over $75 in toiler paper, razors and other miscellaneous items found in the retail drug store you would receive a $20 cash card to go use on electronics, DVDs, and most importantly, video games.

It seems Shoppers Drug Mart feels that Dad's aren't the only ones who should benefit from the awesome mix of greeting cards and Grand Theft Auto as on Saturday August 29th and Sunday August 30th Shoppers' shoppers can relive this offer. I took advantage of it last time and was surprised at how easily I filled up with everyday necessities and managed to get some money off my video game purchases.

The offer does have some restrictions, but they aren't that painful. You can't buy any gift cards, lottery tickets or fill up your pharmacy prescription when trying to reach that $75 before taxes goal. Unfortunately the stamp-collector / video-game-enthusiast hybrid will be left in the cold as well since purchase of stamps do not count towards the total.

This promotion can not be used in conjunction with any other Shoppers offers or promotions and likewise, the $20 cash card can not be combined with any Future Shop offers. It's worth noting that the card has an expiry date of September 17th which leaves plenty of time to take advantage of some deals on electronics.

I just want to add that there are many items that you can actually use towards your obsessive video game shopping; Shoppers Drug Mart usually has decent deals on batteries to give new life to your wireless game controllers. Even smarter is to buy a rechargeable battery set (4 AAs and the charger for about $35) so you don't have to keep on buying more Duracells or Energizers.

Many of the stores also carry DVDs and even games to also help you climb to that $75 peak. So if you find the right store location you could in theory buy games to get a discount on more games. And for those of you out there who haven't gone toiletry shopping in a while, you can visit two or three times and get multiple cash cards; just remember to stagger your trips.

Now go out and buy buy buy and make that TP work for you.
