Must Play: Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl

Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl

By Paul Hunter

Nickelodeon fans, the countdown is on! We're less than a week away from Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl hitting PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch. First announced this past July, this new fighting game from developers Ludosity and Fair Play Labs features a huge roster of fan-favourite characters duking it out in frenetic multiplayer battles reminiscent of Super Smash Bros. or PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale.

So far 20 characters have been revealed including Leonardo (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), Stimpy J. Cat (Ren & Stimpy), SpongeBob SquarePants (SpongeBob SquarePants) and Zim (Invader Zim). In August during Gamescom, CatDog and April O'Neil were also revealed as part of the playable roster. By my count, there's a least 12 different Nickelodeon cartoon franchises represented in this game ranging from shows I used to watch as a kid like Rugrats, to newer animated hits like The Legend of Korra.

Here's a look at the debut trailer showcasing the bombastic battles in action:

If you're like me that trailer definitely sold me on the game. The battles look out of this world and you can see the objective is to smash characters off the screen much like in Nintendo's Super Smash Bros. series. The game supports 4-players simultaneously including locally or online. Here's the full list of the game's official features provided by Game Mill the publisher:
  • All-Star Cast: Fan-favorite characters from the Nickelodeon cartoon universe are here! Each fighter delivers a unique move-set and playstyle to master as you try to send your foes flying off the level to win.
  • 20 Nickelodeon-Themed Levels: Battle across a variety of stages inspired by iconic Nickelodeon universes, including Jellyfish Fields from SpongeBob SquarePants, TMNT’s Technodrome, and more.
  • Single-player and Multiplayer Game Modes: Challenge your skills against the AI, or face off in competitive online and local multiplayer for up to four players.
  • Discover Bonus Content: Unlock advanced moves unique to each character’s personality and more in the in-game Gallery.
The wait's not long, Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl releases on October 5 for all major platforms. I'm excited to check out all 20 of the stages and to find out who else is included on the roster. It's time to get our brawl on—I'll see you in the battle arenas!
